Breast Augmentation Outcomes

Choosing an experienced surgeon, like the surgeons at the Gender Confirmation Center, is the best way to make sure you have the best possible outcome. During the consultation process, our surgeons will work with you to achieve the outcome you want based in large part on your body, including chest shape, skin elasticity, and existing breast tissue.

When envisioning your final outcome, it’s important to keep expectations realistic. While most patients are happy after surgery,, there’s no way to be absolutely sure how your final results will look. In general, surgically augmented breasts are typically firmer, rounder, and slightly further apart than breasts without implants.

It’s also important to note that age plays a part. If you have breast augmentation when you’re older, your chest may appear more youthful than other people with breasts in your age bracket. This is because your breasts have not been subjected to the effects of aging and gravity.

Determining Breast Size and Shape

Our surgeons will work closely with you to determine your optimal size based on your desires for your body after surgery and your body type. Breast implants come in a range of sizes based on the amount of fluid or gel in the implant, typically 125cc-600cc. During your in-person consultation, you will have the chance to try on various implant sizers.

It’s always a good idea to bring a photo to your consultation that depicts your ideal outcome after surgery. When selecting images, choose individuals with a body shape that closely resembles your own. If they are before and after images, try also to select photos where the person in the ‘before’ photo has a similar body type to yours.

Altering Areola Size

Many patients who seek breast augmentation are interested in the possibility of areola resizing, as their areolas may be smaller due to going through an androgenic (testosterone dominant) puberty. It is possible to resize the areolas during surgery, though this often results in additional incisions and scarring. Your surgeon can review this option during your consultation.. You can also consider tattooing to increase areola size non-surgically.

A small percentage of patients have a breast lift in addition to a breast augmentation. If you choose this route, your areolas will be resized and repositioned during your surgery.
