Dr. Mosser is actively working with insurance companies to negotiate contracts. Some have been more receptive than others. At present, we have gotten successful insurance approval for FTM top surgery from the following insurers:
- Aetna (Student Services for University of California System)
- Anthem (National and California)
- Blue Shield
- Blue Cross
- United Health Care
- Brown & Toland HMO
- LA Care
- Health Net
- Health Plan of San Joaquin
- Hills Physicians (HMO)
If you do not see your insurer on this list, please contact us. Our insurance negotiation team is amazing and we would love to add more insurance plans to this list. Often, with the efforts of both patient and physician, we can get an individual covered, and can even often pave the way to get a contract between your company and Dr. Mosser’s office so that future patients who have your insurance can benefit as well. Also, with PPO insurance that covers transgender surgery, usually at least a portion (if not all) of the surgery can be covered.
If you work for a large company, especially a company with a progressive attitude such as are often found in the tech industry, oftentimes we can work with your HR department to make your surgery possible. This is a very common means we can use to work our way through the system. And if you’re not sure – just call us. We will do our level best to negotiate an individual contract with your insurance company to try to get your surgery covered.
We disappointed to report that it has been a bit more difficult to get coverage for MTF breast augmentation procedures, but it is certainly still achievable. FTM chest reconstruction has had a better reception within insurance programs for approval. Regardless, we will do what we can to help you within the insurance system.
